It was a matter of great pleasure to talk on
“ Leadership Mastery : Building a Foundation for Effective Leadership “
to an august gathering of educationists, entrepreneurs and leaders from different professions.
My starting point was that the leadership in the Armed Forces is at different level and there are lessons for everyone. Here, your team is ready to make supreme sacrifice on your orders. There are numerous examples. I shared just couple of them. Maj Vikram Batra, Maj Somnath Sharma and others.  In the armed forces, there are no sales targets or revenue generation.   We discussed how the leadership mastery is attained in the Armed Forces. 
Some of the traits discussed with examples from my army career as well as examples of other military leaders were:
•      Professional knowledge and competence
•      Ability to take quick decision and accept full responsibility for the decision taken
•      Absolute justice and impartiality
•      Moral and physical courage
•      Loyalty
•      Discipline
•      Character
I the end, I recalled the exceptional leadership of Neta Ji Subhash Chandra Bose and we all remembered him by singing — Kadam Kadam Badaye Ja Khushi ke Geet Gaye ja……..
